The honest answer is that it depends on the engine code, and the gap between codes is larger than most people expect. Our published list runs from $3,000 for a reconditioned engine supplied.
What you actually need to know
Fitting is the part people most often forget to ask about. Ours is a flat $1,000 on any engine on the list, carried out at our Hallam workshop. A quote that does not separate the engine from the labour is a quote you cannot compare.
Freight is the third component if you are outside Victoria. We quote it alongside the engine rather than leaving it until the end, because a cheap engine with an expensive delivery is not a cheap engine.
What drives the figure is the code, whether a new unit exists for it, and whether you need it fitted. Everything else is noise.
