Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you buy a Hyundai or Kia engine from us, or have one fitted at our Hallam workshop.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
About these terms
These terms apply when you buy an engine from Korean Engine Specialist, or when we fit an engine to your vehicle. They also apply to this website.
By accepting a quote or leaving a vehicle with us, you agree to these terms. If something in your written quote or invoice differs from what is on this page, the quote or invoice applies.
Quotes and pricing
The prices on our pricing page include GST and are a guide for the engines listed. The price that applies to you is the one on your written quote, which we prepare once we have confirmed your engine code against your registration or VIN.
Every quote states how long it stays open, and that period applies unless the quote says otherwise. Prices can change where the engine code turns out to be different from what was first described, where additional parts or labour are needed, or where supplier costs move before you accept.
Fitting is charged as a flat rate in addition to the engine price, as shown on the pricing page. Fitting does not include unrelated repairs, additional parts, fluids or consumables unless your quote says so.
Our price beat guarantee
We will beat a competitor's price by five per cent where all of the following apply:
- You give us the quote in writing before you accept ours
- It is itemised, so we can compare the engine, the parts and the labour line by line
- It is for identical work on the same vehicle, with an engine of equivalent type and condition
- It comes from a legitimate, registered workshop or supplier operating in Australia
- It is current, genuine and available to you at the time you present it
We do not price against unregistered operators, cash jobs or quotes that cannot be verified. We may decline to match a price where the comparison is not like for like, and we will explain why.
Orders, deposits and payment
An order is confirmed when you accept a written quote and pay any deposit we ask for. A deposit may be required before we order or reserve an engine for you. Where one applies, the amount is set out in your written quote before you pay anything.
When payment in full falls due, and the payment methods we accept, are set out in your written quote.
Goods remain our property until they are paid for in full. We may charge storage on a vehicle left with us after we have told you the work is complete. We will tell you in writing before any storage charge starts.
Engine supply only
Where you buy an engine without fitting, you are responsible for installing it correctly. We supply the engine as described in your quote.
Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified mechanic, and the engine must be set up, filled and run in according to the manufacturer's requirements. Damage caused by incorrect installation, incorrect fluids, overheating, a fault carried over from the original vehicle, or a failure to address the cause of the original engine failure is not covered by our warranty.
Supply and fitting
Where we fit the engine, the work is carried out at our Hallam workshop. We will give you an expected timeframe, and we will tell you as soon as we can if it changes.
Timeframes are estimates. They depend on parts availability, freight and what we find once the vehicle is apart. If we find additional work is needed, we will contact you for approval before we proceed.
Delivery
We deliver engines to every state and territory in Australia. Delivery costs and timeframes depend on your location and are confirmed in your quote.
Please inspect the engine on arrival. Tell us about any transit damage or shortage as soon as you find it, and within the period stated on your delivery paperwork, so we can take it up with the carrier. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
Your original parts
A reconditioned engine is supplied as a long or short engine depending on your quote. Your original accessories, such as the intake, alternator, turbocharger, sensors and ancillaries, are transferred across onto it.
Those parts remain yours and remain your responsibility. We do not warrant them, and we will tell you if we find one that is worn or faulty and needs replacing before the engine is run.
Unless you ask for them back at the time you book, replaced parts and the old engine become our property and may be recycled.
Warranty
Our engines carry a warranty. The period, any kilometre limit, and whether the cover differs between supply only and supply and fit, are confirmed in writing with your quote before you pay anything. Ask us and we will send the current terms.
The warranty covers the engine we supplied against defects in materials and workmanship. To make a claim, contact us with your invoice number and a description of the fault, and give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the engine before any other work is done on it.
The warranty does not cover ordinary wear, damage from overheating, oil starvation, incorrect or contaminated fluids, incorrect installation, modification, racing or commercial misuse, or a fault in another part of the vehicle. Servicing must be carried out at the intervals the manufacturer specifies, and you may be asked for proof.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures you are entitled to a replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they are not of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Our warranty applies in addition to them.
Courtesy cars and towing
A courtesy car may be offered while your vehicle is with us. Courtesy cars are subject to availability and to a separate agreement covering licence requirements, insurance, fuel and tolls, which you sign before taking the vehicle.
We can arrange towing to our workshop. Towing is carried out by third party operators and is charged at cost unless your quote says otherwise.
Cancellations and returns
If you cancel after we have ordered or reserved an engine for you, we may retain your deposit to cover costs already incurred, including freight and restocking charges passed on by our supplier.
We do not accept returns on an engine that has been installed, started or modified. Nothing in this section affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, and other than the guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, our liability for any claim is limited to resupplying the goods or services, or paying the cost of having them resupplied.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of income, loss of use of a vehicle, towing arranged by you, or hire car costs, unless the law makes us liable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of that state.
Get in touch and we will talk it through.
